(post'd to a seemingly dead empty tribe)
noticing there are no thoughts or discussion here yet on saul's new (+ incredible) book.
so i figured i'd start some by pasting a link to a looooooooong discussion in progress over @ his site:
www.saulwilliams.com/cgi-bin...tebb.cgi
personally i'm waiting for the books return to my hands for a second read before delving too deep into my thoughts.
but i also want'd to spread the word as much as possible - thus, it's making the rounds...
love + feet,

Re: dead emcee scrolls
Sun, April 23, 2006 - 1:25 PMI saw the same Saul performance in Boulder and couldn't help but be a little annoyed by such disrespect for Saul from the crowd. Asking him such ridiculous questions as What do you think of cargo pants? How's the world going to end? and What do you think about Bio Engineering? People were getting up and walking out during the show. Granted it's a free show and most people were there to just check him out, but it's Saul Williams, a presence and mind of unequal calibar. It was a bit amusing because Saul was subtley mocking the audience throughout the performance. Don't get me wrong, Saul as always put on an amazing show, it just was in a sour environment. But can I really complain? It was after all a free show.

Re: dead emcee scrolls
Tue, September 19, 2006 - 1:13 PMI am a few pages away from finishing "The Dead Emcee Scrolls." I have to admit that this is the first Saul Williams book I have read. It was loaned to me by my writing partner and mentor. I have been meaning to read the past books, but time in one day is slim for me because of my busy schedule. Needless to say, this is an awesome book. There are so many favorite quotes I took from it. Most of which I've posted on my photo album. I've seen Saul Williams perform spoken word before (unfortunately not in person) but my mentor wasn't kidding when he said, "When you read the book it's like he's speaking to you in person." This book has made him my second favorite poet of all time. It has been the inspiration to a few of my new peices.
